Ride La Bomba!
Ride La Bomba! – Is the Rat Rod Pickup Truck Ur Mother Warned U About! I first saw this bewdy of a rat rod pickup in a magazine. If memory serves. Then we came across this ride at the Hot Rod Riot in Victoria Texas in 2014. That was the 3rd of the popular annual event. And am I glad we went. It was Great! U should make a point to go next year! ~:0) VivaChas Hot Rod Art! (U can get a print of La Bomba here)
The Barbecue (BBQ) song
We heard some cool bands and saw a bunch of sights at the “Riot”. We ate me own favorite dish – Barbecue. Long tradition of BBQ where we come from. Why should food be any different in these parts. Let’s have some BBQ music whilst exploring more about Rat Rod Rides and La Bomba! “The Barbecue song, written by Robert Attias. Performed on stage at Harrah’s by Robert Attias, harmonica and vocal. George Boravich amazing bass with a wonderful bass solo. Kevin Slagg, exceptional masterful guitar. Kurt Henderson and Skip Spratt, the coolest saxophone players anywhere. Bill McGready, a legend on the organ and synths. Bob Leve , drums, solid great.” Source: je65432’s channel
The Pickup – King of the Rat Rod Rides
True enough most extreme Rat Rod Rides have room for little else than the occupants. But every Rod is not that far out there. Our own Rat Rod Pickup Truck is a 1951 Willys Jeep Pickup. It’s not bagged and slammed. That might interfere with the working of the Four-Wheel-Drive system. That’s right! Many Rat Rods R practical. – There! I said It! A Rat Rod is as practical as U want it to be. There R no Rules with these things! Rodders do what they want with their rides. That’s a Good Thing! ~:0)
Hot Rods Are So Handy!
Here’s a great example of Hot Rod Practicality in this short video. “Who needs matches to start a fire when you have an awesome hot rod that shoots fire!? I would not want to be behind him in traffic!” Source: JukinVideo

How About This Russian Amphibious 4×4?
“VIKING’s world-leading amphibious capabilities are based around its purpose-designed flotation construction, centrally mounted engine and powerful water-jet propulsion enable it to ford open water at speeds of up to 15 km/h. The vehicle’s wheels may be optionally engaged while in amphibious mode, providing unique ability to cope with shallow water and to transit the challenging littoral zone, where other vehicles commonly become stuck in soft mud.” Source: AmphibiousOffRoad
Maybe Forbes Magazine Should Tell Us What Ride is Practical
“As with all the cars in Forbes’ “Most Practical” list, the compact Ford Focus was named a “Top Safety Pick” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. It also received an average or better score for long-term reliability in the J.D. Power 2014 Vehicle Dependability Study. The Focus gets a combined city/highway gase mileage of 30 mpg with its 160-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The hatchback versions have a spacious 23.8 cubic feet of cargo space –which expands to 44.8 cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat. The base price for the Ford Focus is $19,115.” – Haaa! Okay – some of U picked the Focus. No accounting for the “Get Outta Here” factor! I’d rather drive the Old Porsche! (no not really) Source: Newsloop Business
The VivaChas 50’s Practical Ride
Some weeks back I did a piece on an imaginary 50’s era Buick – all tongue in cheek I might add. Click the pix to pop over to that blog post. Yes – it’s completely mad! ~:0)
In All Honesty!
Really – in all honesty – none of the commercial rides above is any better than the Rat Rod Pickup – La Bomba featured in this week’s VivaChas blog. I know – I know! There’s A/C but that’s easy enough to do. That’s no prob. Prob with the Rat Ride is – – – It has a replica of a bomb mounted on its rack. Can no one take a joke? – Ha! Pull off the unorthodox decoration and BOOM-BABY! (pun intended) U R ready to haul stuff! And for a lot less money than the “Made of Dollars” Porsche or Russian Anphib! Even the Focus falls short and costs more than the Rat Rod Ride. Think we’ve got less than Five-Large in the old 51 Jeep and it hauls bout anything strikes the fancy! And it’s Four-Wheel-Drive! And who wants to drive a Ford Focus anyway. Except of course that kindly old couple lives on the next parcel over from the Clubhouse. They look sweet in their Focus – they’re wavers. They wave like they’re having a good time whenever we see ‘em. – Ur Ride Should Be Fun!!! Right?
Guess the point of all this galah is that no one ride is the answer to practicality. Suppose some compromise is in order. Gauls me to say that. Ur Rat Rod Ride doesn’t have to be as extreme as – La Bomba! It doesn’t have to cost all those Rubbles that the Amphibious Russian goes for. It CAN’T be as mundane as the Focus! U’re all Better than that Rn’t U? ~:0) Here’s what Good Ol’ JuJu has to say about it. She says – Drive what U want. But VivaChas Says – Make What U Drive The Ride Of Ur Life! Get Down! Get Outta Town! Ride Loud and Ride Large! – – – And – Drive What U Want! – Ha! ~:0) VivaChas Hot Rod Art!
